PRODUCTS THAT DON'T GET ENOUGH HYPE

This week, I’d like to give a little love to some products that I don’t hear much about. They are great products that I think are very useful and everyone needs to know about!

First up is Revlon's Kiss Exfoliating Balm. It’s really a 2-in-1 product that exfoliates lips and moisturizes them at the same time. The vanilla mint scent is a pleasant addition to the experience of applying the product to the lips. The exfoliation you get from the sugar grains embedded in the balm is effective but not extreme because of the moisturizing effect of the balm itself. The only caveat is that it has a slightly grainy feel that lasts for a few minutes after initial application until the sugar kind of melts down. It doesn’t bother me, but I’m pretty tolerant of lip balms and lipsticks that have a noticeable texture during wear.

This next product is one that I really enjoy and think is worth trying, but it’s best to wait until there’s a sale or two-for-the-price-of-one deal since there are other similar products that are much less expensive. It's the It Cosmetics Tightline Mascara. Despite its higher price, I do think it’s worth it if you can find a good deal. This mascara wears like iron but will come off easily with a cleansing oil or balm and is great for using on the bottom lashes. It does not really create a “tightline” effect, which can really only be achieved by placing eyeliner on your inner eyelid underneath your lashes. But it does get all the smaller lashes that might be hard to reach with larger mascara wands and works well as a “primer” under other mascaras to increase longevity and the look of density.

The Elf Halo Glow Powder is another product that I have not heard much about. So much hype has been given to Elf Halo Glow Complexion Booster liquid highlighter (and I do want to try that one), but I haven’t seen very many reviews for the Halo Glow powder. This powder comes in several shades, but I wanted to try the “Pink” one as a substitute for the Huda Beauty "Cherry Blossom" powder, which is much more expensive and has been sold out for quite a while. I think the Huda Beauty powder might be more intensely pink, but the Elf is still a beautiful powder that just hasn’t gotten enough attention in the online beauty community. It is beautiful, lightweight, not cakey or powdery, and not too matte yet also not too shiny. The packaging even looks and feels more luxe for such an affordable brand with a fun purple tint in the bottom section of the container.

This next product is one that I’ve talked about before here on this blog, the Tarte Quick Stick 30-Second Eyes shadow and liner sticks. They are called “30-second eyes” for a good reason! I’ve loved all the colors I’ve tried in both the eyeshadow portion itself and in the eyeliner portion as well. The eyeliners are incredibly smooth and opaque, but no one talks about them online! Going into the fall and winter, there will most likely be holiday sets available for a discounted price per item.

This next one is expensive, but there is a mini size available that I think is worth it. It’s the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow bronzer/highlighter duo in light/medium (there is also a medium/deep option). This item was hyped up when first released, but now no one ever seems to mention it, and often people like only the highlighter or only the bronzer but not both. I like both! The bronzer is a light neutral shade and can be applied easily without having to worry about it looking blotchy or unnatural. The highlighter is also beautiful, not too glittery or obvious, and can be applied lightly for a subtle effect or more heavily for a more intense look.

The last product I’ll mention today is the Revlon So Fierce Prismatic eyeshadow quad palette in “That’s a Dub. It’s very neutral and can be applied in so many different ways. It can be applied wet or dry for a more intense or less intense shine. Some of the colors can be used as a “one and done” shadow look, too. The deep purple is wonderful to use with a liner brush along the upper lash line as well.

That’s it for this week! Thanks for reading!
