This week, I thought I’d write about disappointing products. Most of these products are “okay” in terms of price and quality and might be just what someone else is looking for. They simply did not suit my own personal preferences. However, there is one product in this bunch that I do think is defective.   First up is Tatcha The Silk Canvas , a face primer with a putty consistency. This product is meant to be applied before any other makeup and is supposed to blur your pores and help your makeup last longer . The Silk Canvas is an expensive product , and I bought it before the less expensive mini size became available! I don’t notice any difference in the appearance or lasting power of my foundation makeup . It doesn’t seem to make it worse but doesn’t make it better , either. An expensive mistake and a reminder not to fall for all the hype.     The second product is the  Colourpop Clay It Cool palette . I reviewed this last week, so you can check ...

ColourPop 'Clay It Cool' Palette Review

Image
This week, I am trying out the ColourPop “Clay It Cool” eyeshadow palette. It came out about a month ago . This palette caught my attention as a possible “ dupe ” for the Patrick Ta Major Dimensions II Rose Major Dimensions II Rose palette, or at least something with similar vibes , even if not an exact, shade-for-shade duplicate. The M a jor Dimensions II palette retails for $68 US , whereas Clay It Cool costs significantly less at $16 US . In addition, ColourPop runs sales much more often than Patrick T a’s and Sephora’s websites, which is how I bought Clay It Cool for $11.20.                                                          ColourPop Clay It Cool palette                                  ...

Fast, Easy Eye Tutorial

Image
This week, I’d like to demons trate an eyeshadow look that is easy, fast, and inexpensive. This look, or a variation of it, has been my go-to routine lately and really helps me get ready and get out the door fast while still looking put together.   This look uses four products: A cream or liquid shadow that’s close to your skin tone, a sparkly cream shadow, an eyeliner, and a dense “pencil” brush like the one pictured below . However, it’s highly adaptable and customizable. You can skip the eyeliner and just blend the eyeshadow out with your fingers, for example.   Here's what I used today: From left to right: Elf Eye Contour Brush Elf No-Budge Retractable Eyeliner in “Coffee” Ulta matte cream eyeshadow in “Game Over” ColourPop super shock shadow in “Ritz” Below, I’m using the Ulta cream shadow in “Game Over,” described by Ulta 's website as a “pale nude,  to act as a base to cover any eyelid discoloration and act as some thing for other products to stick...

Beauty favorites August 2022

Image
This week, I’d like to highlight my most-used makeup products for August 2022 . They are products that either helped me get ready faster or helped my makeup apply and look smoother. Here they are all lined up in a row!   From left to right, they are :   Elf Power Grip Primer   Tarte Quick Stick eyeshadow and eyeliner in tan/brown Laura Mercier Caviar Stick eyeshadow in "Kiss from a Rose" LA Girl matte lip primer   Caliray tubing mascara   Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder   Doll 10 TCE Concealer   Tarte CC undereye corrector   Mac Paint Pot in Painterly   (The above are not affiliate links.) The Elf primer is supposed to be somewhat sticky and help your makeup wear better, but the reas on I love it is that it keeps my foundation makeup from sinking into my pores as much. Lately everything is giving me the dreaded “polka-dot” cheeks, but not with this primer. It’s slightly green-ti nted but goes on clear.   The two different...
